Hypnosis-Help! is the Hypnotherapy Practice of Alan James Based in Market Harborough, between Northampton and Leicester, although I am happy to travel just about anywhere to share my enthusiasm and experience of Hypnotherapy and its ability to effect rapid and positive change in peoples' lives.
About Hypnosis
Life is all about perception. The whole world is about what we see, hear, touch, smell and taste and the world is different for each of us depending upon how we perceive the experinces that our senses feed us.
There is no reality outside of your own mind, your belief system is your reality!
The way we perceive the world and the experiences we have had throughout our lives makes us the people that we are.
Sometimes, for a myriad of reasons, our perceptions cause us to form unhealthy associations between ideas. For example, most fears & phobias are over reactions to a stimulus that shouldn't really bother us too much. A fear of heights or spiders is fine to a point but we shouldn't have to live our lives avoiding these things because our bodies have learned to react inappropriately as if our lives are in danger.
Hypnosis-Help! is the practice I've set up to use hypnosis to help people overcome their phobias and fears, realise their full potential and kick their bad habits.
I am also keen to dispel the usual myths about hypnosis that hypnotism is a form of mind control- It is NOT! That you will be asleep - you will NOT! Or that you will lose control of your mind and body and start blabbing your innermost secrets - you will NOT!
Hypnosis is a state of mind between being awake and being asleep. The conscious mind is relaxed and allows the subconscious to be available and open to suggestion. Many people are sceptical about the hypnotic state as they believe that the subconscious is incapable of overiding the conscious mind. In a Sleepwalker that is exactly what is happening. Indeed many times during the day the subconscious takes over our bodily actions. Do you have to concentrate on tying your shoe laces? Do you have to think consciously about driving your car? These are skills that we have learned to such an extent that we can place them as "sub-routines" in our subconscious mind so that our conscious mind can get on with other more absorbing tasks.
Hypnotherapy is about helping individuals to reach into their subconscious and change the perceptions that are causing them to react fearfully and to allow them to lead fully active and fulfilling lives.
Hypnotherapy is very effective at enabling people to change long standing bad habits including smoking, nail biting, and other anti social habits.
In most cases Hypnotherapy works quickly in terms of timespan and number of sessions required. I do not usually need to see clients more than three or four times, unless their problems are very severe or numerous. In any case positive change should be noticed within days or a week or two if the treatment is going to be effective. Beware of hypnotherapists who tell you that a certain number of sessions will definitely be required. Some practitioners offer a six or eight session course, for instance, and advise you that you should see the course of treatment through, even if you`re feeling better in the meantime. Because everyone is different and responds differently in hypnotherapy, enquire why a set number of sessions is being recommended. In the best scenarios, issues can be resolved in a session or two.
