FEARS & PHOBIAS

There are many fears & phobias, possibly hundreds, and one of the better lists that I have found is here

The first thing you need to realise is that you are not alone. Most phobias are more common that you might dare to imagine, its just that most people do not openly discuss their anxieties with their friends and family, especially men!

One thing you can be completely sure of is that the fear that you feel is real and affects your day to day life. However, fears & phobias are generally quite easy to overcome.

Fear is a necessary emotion and very useful in right amount and in the appropriate time & place but can be debilitating when out of control in day to day situations.

Hypnotherapy is extremely good at identifying the trigger points and a skilled Hypnotherapist is then able to use a variety of techniques to help you to feel differently about the thing or situation that was making life difficult for you.

Some therapists will advocate facing your fears directly in the real world to desensitise you. I will never make a client do this because it just raises stress levels unnecessarily and reinforces the fear. There are other much gentler and subtle and more effective ways than forcing people to confront the things that frighten them directly. A good therapist, in my opinion, will never deliberately face a client directly witn their worst nightmare, even with the best of intentions.
