Most people recognise that the route to losing those extra pounds is by eating less and exercising more. So, why is that that although we all know this we find it so hard to do? Many people who come to me have been through the hoops of going to weight loss weekly meeting for months or even years and some have even tried every diet that's ever been invented.

Essentially the problem is habit. We have educated ourselves to eat certain things that we like. Our bodies and minds become accustomed to those foods and we get into a rut.

So, you wake up in the morning and decide that today is the day your diet starts. You're adamant. Positive! By lunchtime you're feeling a little less sure and by teatime all hope of stcking to your diet has gone out of the window and you might as well eat whatever you want. Sound familiar?

This has always been the case! All of the dieting clubs actually do is make you conscious of what you eat and make you feel guilty about eating the "wrong" type of food. Many of my clients admit that when they were going to dieting clubs that they would starve themselves for a day or so before each meeting so they didn't look bad. That's no way to trat your body and no recipe for sustained weight reduction.
